Volunteers for Seniors Day HOPE WORLDWIDE
On Sunday (15Jan), our group of 12 Fidu-Share volunteers in Hong Kong joined the “Volunteers for Seniors Day” community event hosted by HOPE Worldwide (http://www.hopeww.org.hk/elderly_volunteers_for_seniors_day.php). In small groups of four, we visited elderlies in their homes in a local housing estate in Shatin, and donated lucky bags filled with daily necessities, such as rice, dry noodles, cooking oil, tea leaves, milk powder, sesame crackers, instant oatmeal, bed sheets, and pain relieving patches. Over an hour, we chatted with them about their lives in HK, their families, while we also conducted a simple survey to check on their health needs and home safety.
Our elderlies were all very talkative and appreciated our company and our gifts as you can see from the enclosed photos. From our side, we also enjoyed the humbling experience and the opportunity to be of help to Mr. Chow (77), Mr. Chan (86), Mrs. Hung (88), and Mrs. To (92).
If you like to know more about each of our elderly beneficiaries, please speak to our volunteers and they’ll be happy to share their stories with you.
