Location: Shanghai
Why did you join Fiducia?
I studied Business Administration and East Asian Studies at the University of Tübingen in Germany and have an immense interest in the Chinese language, region, and culture. I wanted to complement my six months study abroad in China with a practical element, so I subsequently spent half a year interning at Fiducia. That gave me the experience that I was looking for with the Chinese market.
What did you enjoy most about working for Fiducia?
A unique aspect of Fiducia is the prominent family culture that exists within the company, which results in a very comfortable and relaxed environment. Interactions between colleagues are very friendly and there is no sense of a dominating hierarchy. My managers had a lot of trust in me and gave me various responsibilities that I was able to complete independently. Even as an intern, I had the feeling that I was taken seriously and was able to contribute my own ideas and suggestions.
How has Fiducia benefited your career and personal development?
The Business Development Team is responsible for the evolvement and growth of Fiducia’s business in Greater China. On the one hand it is crucial for us to foster relationships with existing clients; on the other hand we try to reach new, potential clients. We regularly attend trade fairs, deliver presentations and speeches at diverse events, write articles for notable magazines, and share our expert knowledge through our own publication, China Focus.
During my internship I supported my colleagues with their daily tasks and long term projects as much as possible. Before trade fairs, I helped build up contact to potential client companies, so that we could be as efficient as possible on the actual few days of the event. I was also actively involved in China Focus and in drafting articles. Furthermore, I carried out a lot of market research for our publications and about potential clients and markets. Through my internship at Fiducia I gained a wide range of knowledge about business in Greater China. More importantly, I was able to implement what I learned at university in a real-world corporate setting, giving me invaluable experience and a great enhancement to my CV.
